Hogwarts Uniform with vest by Verdaera Hogwarts Uniform with vest by Verdaera
Another shot of my Hogwarts Ravenclaw uniform, this time with the vest variation. I just got the vest in from WizardKnits.com (GREAT store, highly recommended!). The shirt and the skirt were made by me. I ordered this vest because I had planned to wear my costume to the midnight release, but they changed the date to summer... and I don't want to die.

In the pic I'm holding my limited edition of Tales of Beedle the Bard. There's also in there my Monster Book of Monsters, my Alivan's wand, and my Official Ravenclaw scarf (if you take off the patch, it's fairly accurate... the Gryffindor is the only one with the wrong color. I'll order a WizardKnits scarf one day)

This is definitely my favorite of all your ravenclaw pictures, I just love how the vest looks, and the book is wonderful.
Do you still wear this costume too cons? I know you made it quite a few years ago.

Thanks! :D

Sometimes, it depends on the con. I wore it to Dragon*Con last year for a final battle photoshoot which was pretty cool [link]

I didn't use a pattern, I actually drafted my own, but I made a sketch of how I patterned it if you wanted to alter a ready-made pattern and make your own :) Here's my sketch: [link]

I got them at Payless Shoes a few years ago... I had such a hard time finding Mary Janes, but at Payless I ended up fitting into kid's shoes ;)

Was thinking of getting the vest too. I'm still waiting on the sweater, though. It should be shipping this month.

I was thinking of getting a Hogwarts messenger bag in Orlando. Probably should have got it to go with the costume.

Looking good!

Hi,

I'm afraid you can't get exact ready-made replicas for that cheap. The vest cost me about $60 from wizardknits.com, and the skirt I made myself, from wool fabric which usually costs around $10-$15 a yard. You can find decent substitutes by looking at resale shops and perhaps doing a little altering yourself.

Good luck with your costume! :)

This is awesome! It's refreshing to see a Hogwarts uniform that isn't made up of just stuff from the thrift store (though, I still support thrift store costuming, I may be thrift store Tonks for the the premiere lol)

Anyway, I officially hate you because this rekindled my idea for Hogwarts class of 1890-something-or-other.

I also officially hate you because I was looking at your research page instead of studying organic chem. It's the good kind of hate, though. I promise.

Awww, it's so good to be hated! *g* I seriously think costuming is of the Dark Side...

It definitely is! Though, now I don't hate you so much anymore because I really think I'm going to put some of my other projects on hold and try to get 1890s Hogwarts done for dragon con.

whythankyou *g* have you decided what costume you're wearing to the premiere with me?!

Jenni wanted to go too, but she'll be the odd-one-out if she isn't in costume ;)

BTW, I really like your Monster Book of Monsters. Any more pictures of it? I'd love to see them. From what I've seen of it so far, it looks great!! =D

Here's a pic of it on amazon:

If I had any techie skills I'd totally soup it up so it growls and the little tendrils wiggle. This one will rattle if you pull the tongue. I wrapped a belt around mine ;)

Cool! I had no idea that Amazon sold one!

You might be able to take the innards from a toy beastie of some kind or action figure to make it so that your book can growl.

My wife keeps saying that I should sculpt one the same way I did the Necronomicons. If only I had the time!!
