Cinderella Corset by Verdaera Cinderella Corset by Verdaera
Finished the first step toward my Cinderella costume, the corset!

I've had problems with making corsets over the years, due to trying to make them for years on a dress form not my size (they don't seem to make them small enough) and my own lack of skill at the time, but I've learned a lot since my previous attempts. I'm still having trouble with the bust shaping since none of the resource material specifies how to pattern for petite figures, so since this is a fantasy genre, I felt safe in working an old bra into the corset body instead. I used the articles at FoundationsRevealed.com to form the base pattern for this (flat patterning using math, how about that) and had made a couple fitting drafts to tweak my shaping.

Overall, I'm pretty happy with it, it is the most comfortable corset I've made to date because I was able to work in room for my ribs and I still get down to a 23" waist. It's made with duck cloth, and everything is materials I had on hand. I promised myself since the other corsets that I wouldn't waste time making a corset 'pretty' with flossing and cording and whatnot until I was 100% the fit was perfect. I know I want to tweak the back so the gap is even on the hips, so I might make one again at a later date and pay more attention to detail. For now, I can start working on the rest of my dress!

***PLEASE NOTE: My work is not 'cosplay', it is costuming. Costuming is the art of creating costumes and designing a character look. 'Cosplay' is the activity of role playing while in costume, which not an activity I participate in, and is often confused for costuming.. Please only refer to my work as Costuming. Thank you for your understanding.***
